Parenting & Self-Care
As parents, we often power through the day to ensure our home has all the best ingredients for raising awesome kids. We often work outside the family home for ourselves, employers and/or many other reasons. Not to mention, we run countless errands, keep up with everyone’s appointments, and provide a listening ear and support.
Oh, the bliss of youth! I recall telling another parent some time ago that, as a child, I had no idea parents only get 24 hours a day. Staying committed to making self-care part of your daily routine may at first seem like a challenge but keep reading for more encouragement.

24 hours is all you get in the day – the same amount as your child. You may find it unsettling that I now say you still need to practice self-care. Yes, it is true - you cannot buy, sell, or even exchange hours. I should point out that it is also still important to sleep - 8-10 hours I hear is the going rate.
Don’t fret. There is good news. Self-care is a well-deserved treat for all who take time to practice it and it becomes easier to implement in your daily routine the more you practice. It is not meant to sabotage your day. Self-care is here to help, and it is just as important as eating and is good medicine. Mothers/Fathers - don’t feel guilty. Like any good medicine, do enough in moderation to help you be the best version of yourself. You will like that and so will your family.
